Lawn King recommends freshening your shredded mulch every 1 to 2 years, and color mulch every 2 to 3 years. We recommend a 3-inch thick layer of mulch to extract the optimal benefilts.

Measure width x length (in feet) = total area
One yard covers 324 square feet, 1 inch deep
One yard covers 100 square feet, 3 inches deep
One yard covers 56 square feet, 6 inches deep
One bag covers 3 square feet, 3 inches deep

Both color-enhanced and natural wood mulches will keep their brilliant color for approximately 1 year, but then will begin to dull to a soft gray with exposure to the sun, rain, snow and wind.
