OrganicGardening.com shares the facts about which is the truly greener option: a live Christmas tree or a fake one.
"The allure of an artificial Christmas tree is obvious: reusable, dependably lush and symmetrical, and best of all, mess-and maintenance-free. But convenience has an environmental price tag, making fresh, fragrant, real trees a better choice. Artificial trees are made from materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and metal and are often imported from China. Because they cannot be recycled, artificial trees end up in landfills when they are no longer useful."
Most disturbing, they report that artificial trees older than 9 years old contain dangerous levels of lead.

Using 600,000 Lego bricks, this Christmas tree was recently installed at a train station in London. While building a tree entirely out of Legos seems a bit daunting to finish by Christmas morning, we thought the Lego ornaments would make a fun family project tonight or gift.
